Abstract

This research article indicates that social workers view their practice in terms of three great influences: a) conditions or determinants of the social and institutional context; b) the projection of one self; and c) the disciplinary projection. The first part of the article describes the aspects that make up these three categories and explains their generation.

When social workers explain themselves and the social work they do, they also express desires. In that way they outline a true project for the transformation of social work and they reveal another side of themselves and their representations which is complementary and explicitly necessary. This is the second descriptive contribution.

In the last section the article compares and contrasts the representation of desires and the type of interpretations the professionals operate with in their daily practice which have already been investigated).
