Young people and the second chance: work placements as a way to improve employability

Abstract
Second Chance Schools (E2O) are a response for young people at risk of exclusion because of their educational return and labour insertion objectives. They include in the training itineraries company internships for training and employment purposes. A qualitative study has been carried out and shows the analysis of interviews carried out with educational staff from the E2O, with teachers from secondary schools where the students return after their time at these schools, and with employers who have hired young graduates from the E2O. The results of the study lead to the conclusion that company internships carried out within the E2O itineraries are an educational and particularly effective remedial policy for the labour market insertion of young people: they connect with the opportunities of the labour market and the company is at the service of the young person's training.
