Abstract
The present research is an analysis of the literature and review of it on residential care in Spain. The purpose of this review is to be able to bring together the existing information regarding this topic and thus be able to make visible the reality that exists in the field of protection of minors who are in residential care measures. To this end, a review systematic literature (RSL) has been carried out between 1996 and 2021, according to the PRISMA model. Of the 109 texts found and the 88 texts reviewed, work has been done on 44 scientific articles that focused specifically on the object of research. The content analysis has been
carried out from a hermeneutic‑critical approach through documentary analysis. After applying a series of inclusion and exclusion criteria based on the object of study, the results obtained from the studies analyzed in different categories are shown; (I) General conditions of residential care; (II) Alternatives to residential care; (III) Educational welfare of minors in residential care; (IV) Professional perspectives on residential care resources and (V) Life after residential care. The main conclusions show that lives under a residential care measure
are longer than policies promote and resources within residential care measures are limited.
